Handmade by our own craftsmen

These slatted timber diffusers are hand made in our own workshop. They are made in neutral colours to fit into any decorative environment. We intentionally make them with a slightly rustic finish. Aside from meeting a functional need to diffuse sound waves they also have tremendous decorative value. There's something very appealing about natural timber.

Why should acoustic diffusers be used?

Diffusers are an excellent companion to sound absorption. In a room with too many absorbers you can end up with a very dead sounding space. Diffusers allow you to control sound reflections while keeping the live sound in the room. This helps to create a warmer, more natural sounding room but without the interfering reflections.

Where should acoustic diffusers be used?

Diffusers are normally used in the centre position of a wall or ceiling. The corners of any square or rectangular space are prone to low frequency nodes and these are best resolved with bass traps. The centre position can either be covered completely by diffusers or a combination of diffusers and absorbers.

Our diffusers can be used to create effect in combination with our sound absorbing products such as:

  • S5 Upholstered acoustic wall panels
  • S5 Upholstered acoustic wall panels
  • Tru-Tone acoustic cladding
  • Waffle profile acoustic foam
  • Bass traps

What types of rooms will benefit from diffusers?

The types of rooms that will benefit most from diffusers are what we call critical listening spaces. These are room which by virtue of their function require a high degree of acoustic clarity free from interfering reflections, standing waves and flutter echoes. Examples of the the types of rooms that fit this description are:

  • Home cinema rooms
  • TV Rooms
  • Hi-fi rooms
  • Band practice rooms
  • School music rooms
  • Drum rooms
  • Home studios
  • Professional recording studios: Both the control room and lives room will benefit greatly from diffusers.

Unconventional applications for diffusers

Over the years we've had many clients buy diffusers less for their acoustic value and more because they simply love the 3D geometrical look that they provide. There is something satisfying about the way in which they various depths to provide light & shade. They're just interesting to look at and can therefore bring decorative value to all sorts of other spaces such as:

  • Reception area
  • Waiting room
  • Film set
  • Living room
  • Boardroom
  • Video conference room etc.
